Teen Depression & Suicide

Student-Designed SiteIn 2002-2003, the MAAV Student Advisory Board (SAB) of 16 high school students worked to raise awareness about the problem of teen depression and suicide. After receiving training from the Samaritans and holding focus groups with their peers, the SAB developed a public awareness campaign that included presentations to students, parents, faculty and church groups, a Public Service Announcement which aired locally, and posters which encouraged students to reach out for help. Finally, they developed this comprehensive web site “by teens for teens” on depression and suicide. Special thanks to student Amanda Lanza who spearheaded the web site project.
